What we do

Most of what we do now centres around education.

From Early Childhood Development, where little minds are just beginning to discover that the world is a rather interesting place, to tertiary education, where young adults begin figuring out what they might do with their lives.

01 · Early Childhood Development

Mbotyi ECD

Building and running a school from the ground up in rural Transkei, creating a place where children can thrive and a model that can be replicated in other communities.

Eleven months after we were entrusted with an empty field in Mbotyi, it had become a purpose-built Early Childhood Development centre, with two bright classrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, offices, bathrooms, a playground and space for up to 100 children.

  • 65 children enrolled
  • 100 places
  • 4 permanent staff
  • Lunch every school day

02 · Youth of Hope House

A home for hope

Creating a home built around community, where students are supported through mentorship, meaningful relationships and opportunities as they pursue their futures.

Along with a safe place to live comes mentoring, leadership development, volunteering, work opportunities and the idea that receiving should eventually become giving.

  • 7 young adults housed and trained in leadership
  • 30+ young people mentored twice a week

03 · Tertiary Education

Opening doors through education

Connecting students with bursaries and sponsors who help make tertiary education possible and open doors to brighter futures.

Getting someone into university is one thing. Helping them succeed there is another, which is why our bursaries come with mentorship.

  • 14 students given tertiary education and mentorship

04 · General Care

Nourishment & care

Supporting underserved communities through meal initiatives and practical acts of care that create spaces for dignity, connection and hope.

Sometimes helping people means a bursary, sometimes it means a classroom, and sometimes it means simply showing up with the right thing at the right time, even if it’s just a well-timed tasty meal.
